Field Geography

Current Course Description:
Methods for collecting and analyzing geographic data. Emphasis on physical or human topics and specific methods will depend upon instructor. Prerequisites: GEOG, 105, GEOG 240 or consent of instructor.

New Course Description:
Methods for collecting and analyzing geographic data. Emphasis on physical or human topics and specific methods will depend upon instructor. Prerequisite: GEOG, 105 or consent of instructor.

Justification for changing the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
Geography 321 is a course that is beneficial to both Geography Majors and Majors in Natural Sciences. Currently, the prerequisites limit the enrollment to almost exclusively Geography Majors. Removing the prerequisite of Geog 240 will allow students from other disciplines to take the course. I have waived the prerequisite of Geog 240 for several students in the past years and they have all succeeded.
Students/Program affected:
Students in other programs will have the opportunity to take the course.
