Catalog Description:
This course is designed to introduce students to the psychology major and to explore career opportunities and graduate school. The course is ideally taken after Psy 201 and 202, as students are just starting their upper division psychology coursework. The course is designed to help students clarify personal and professional goals and increase their understanding of the varied professional roles they are prepared for with a degree in psychology.

Course Goal and Objectives: ¿ Explore the psychology major and create a academic plan ¿ Become familiar with the professional roles and subfields of psychology ¿ Assess personal interests, skills, and fit with various psychology related careers and graduate school ¿ Expose students to opportunities at WOU that will enhance their training ¿ Explore the job search process and graduate school options ¿ Introduce students to campus resources
Justification for adding the course (e.g. alignment with other institutions, program revision, etc.):
The course has been successfully offered three times under temporary numbers. Students have reported on class evaluations that the course was very helpful in maximizing their success as psychology majors. Furthermore, the course is similar to courses offered at other universities (e.g., Boise State, Marymount University, University of Idaho), and has also been described in the literature (e.g., Dillinger, R.J. & Landrum, R. E., 2002).
Faculty and facilities needed:
No new faculty needed. The course has already been a part of the current psychology offerings since Winter 2009.
