I checked the plug and pushed the button, turned
on just fine and went to login menu without a problem.

Whoops, forgot to cange contact name.  contact is
student.  Crystal was using the machine when the
power cord came out of the wall.  She plugged it
back in and tried turning on the machine but it
won't boot up.  There is another machine for her
to use in the meantime.  (it is a mac, sounds like
an imac)
