The trojan name is Backdoor.Gaster.

this turns out to be the gaster trojan.  It 
appears that the executable has been deleted but 
possibly there are registry entrys that need to 
be removed.  I found the instructions on 
sarc.com.  The laptop is in use right now in the 
classroom.
