Joel Alexander called in and said they do not know
the password for the local account. They were
wondering if there's any workaround or alternate
login they can use. There's evidently a prof at a
conference right now who was planning on using the
laptop for a presentation and he needs to be able
to log into it.

Hello Professors,

I wanted to ensure that everyone was on the same
page. One can login to a laptop two ways. The
first is logging into the domain using your
network account and password. For the first
attempt (per person) you need to be connected to
WOU's network. Once you are successfully logged
in, your account is cached on the laptop. You can
then log on using your network login and password
no matter where you are.

The second method, used by some departments, is to
have a local account (in this case psych). The
password for that is chosen and kept by the
department.

If someone takes a laptop without first logging
into the network on that laptop or ensuring that
they have a local account, then they'll be unable
to use the laptop.

Please let me know if you have any questions or
concerns regarding this matter.

thanks,

Joe Crowe

was the laptop ghosted? I can't think of why we
would delete a local profile.
