install/nothing we can do for the problem.

The scanner is an HP ScanJet 6300c. We don't have
the drivers for it on \\cougar\installs, and HP's
website doesn't have any OS X supported drivers
available to download in english. I tried
downloading the driver in another language (French
and German) but they wouldn't even download.
