Hello Prof Plec,

I am touching base with you regarding service
request 15591:

She said that she was waiting to hear about
getting a new computer. Request went in a couple
of months ago

Central replacements of general fund machines
(like yours) occur on a cycle. We'd like to have
a four-year cycle, but WOU cannot afford this.
Fiscal Year for WOU begins July 1. This is when
we will get the monies detailed in Bill's Blog
(located here
http://www.wou.edu/~kernanb/blogs/archives/2006/06/facultystaff_re.html
). We then replace the oldest machines on campus
and work up until the money is gone. Last year,
this budget was gutted for obvious reasons. This
means that we have machines on campus that should
have gone out last year (machine purchased FY 2000
and older) that will need to be replaced before we
can get to the FY 2001, like your machine.

Once July hits, then we'll begin our process of
generating a replacement list. Replacements will
occur over the mid to late summer. At this time I
do not know how far into FY 2001 we'll get before
all of the dollars are spent. Your machine may or
may not be included in the replacement cycle.

To my memory, your machine has not been serviced
in quite some time. There's a high likelihood
that I can improve the speed of your existing
machine, regardless of your replacement status.
If you like, I would be happy to look at your
machine at your convenience.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate
to ask.

thanks,
