I swapped the HDD into a known good machine.

it is time for someone to take care of this.  It 
continues to shut down on her.

She can log back in, but it will do it again. 
Yesterday she said it happened 3 times and today 
it has already happened once. When she turned it 
on this morning it made a loud continual noise. 
Now it is quiet.
