When they turn it on, it will flash betwwn

They have tried turning it off several times.

****This is an email****

Joe,

tonight at just after 5 we got a call from the
library saying that their information desk machine
had froze and they could not get it to work. I
went over and tried to reboot it, boot into
safemode, etc. No luck. The machine posts fine,
gets to the windows splash screen and loads for a
bit, then flashes a STOP code and reboots. This
will continue forever if the machine is not
shutdown by holding in the power button.

Brad recomended that I look up the stop code in
google, which I did. Evidently the stopcode ending
in ED represents an "unmountable boot volume"
according to the following webpage:

http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php

Because of this I tried to run a chkdsk /r from a
windows CD, but the scan gets to 75%, resets to
50% and then sits at 50% forever, never getting
any farther. I tried the scan twice and this was
the result both times. I'm not sure why it would
do this.

This computer is the one they use for e-reserves
so it is connected to a scanner and has a SCSI
card installed. The scanner WOU# is 50587. The
library is very concerned with this and would like
this taken care of as soon as possible. Aside from
running chkdsk and trying to boot into safemode I
wasn't sure what step to take next so I'm emailing
you and updating the helpdesk ticket. They said
they can get by without the machine until
tomorrow, but they would like it taken care of
somehow before to late in the day tomorrow as they
need to make frequent use of the machine during
this part of the year.

Email me with any questions,

Mike

This is the machine that the use to scan
ereserves. This makes it particularly important at
this time of the term.

I've emailed Joe letting him know about this
issue. I'll paste that email into the next note.

This is important because they use this computer
all the time.

She had to do a hard reboot from the tower. It
only flashes a blue screen. And is stuck on the
page that shows Windows starting up.
