On hold until she's back from sabbatical. I've
already told her numerous times that we need her
to be in the office when we come by so we can fix
this. I'm feeling more and more certain that this
is a drive mapping issue.

The issue is back and she called again.

She is on sabbatical until April 2nd. She would
like it to be working properly when she comes
back in.

Thank you, Mike. The absence of Sophos occurred
after I had already had trouble logging in--I got
an error message about being unable to access the
server, so I restarted the computer (for the
second time--having not used it for some time, I
restarted automatically); that was when the Sophs
sigil did not appear as it usually does. I shall
let you know if I have the problem again; time
enough at that point to ask one of your crew to
stand over my shoulder. I'm hoping it is a rare
thing, perhaps associated with my not having
logged on in a while? Again, thanks.

Professor Lange,

I left a voice mail on your extension asking when
next you'll be in your office. I know you're on
sabbatical, so this may be a while from now and
that's fine. I had the department secretary let me
into your office and I checked out your computer.
When I logged in windows and the Sophos anti-virus
were behaving normally. I ran updates for
anti-virus, windows, and office. All updates
downloaded and installed just fine. I was unable
to reproduce the errors you've reported.

If you can let us know ahead of time when you next
plan to be in the office we can try to have
someone available to "look over your shoulder" as
you log in to see if we can identify the problem.
As it stands now there's not much more we can do
without you actually being at the computer.

If you have any questions or concerns about this
issue please email us at ucshelpdesk@wou.edu or
call us at 88925. Please have the helpdesk ticket
number ready (19586) so the helpdesk operator can
update your ticket as quickly as possible.

Went and checked out the machine. Booted fine,
logged in fine, Sophos was there and running, I
ran updates for sophos and windows and office. All
updates installed just fine.

I'm going to email her asking her to let us know
when next she'll be in her office so we can watch
over her shoulder and see what's going on. The
computer is still on so we can remote in if anyone
has another idea.

Called and left vm for times when she'll be
around. Just noticed that she's on sabatical so
I'll go see if the department secretary can let me in.

She called and is wondering when someone will
look at the antivirus for her.

She called again and said that the antivirus icon
that looks like a shield in the lower right hand
corner is gone. She would also like to have that
looked into.

About 4 minutes after her desktop background
picture came up, she got a message
saying 'Windows access is denied'. While she was
on the phone with me, it started working, but she
would like someone to check it out just in case.
She is on sabatical right now, so she is not in
often, but the secretary can open her door.
