Haven't heard back so I'm assuming the fix was
permanent. Unflagging ticket.

Finally was able to run the connector and it took
care of the problem. She was able to open up 3
different pdfs that had previously caused issues.

If she calls back in with the problem again please
reopen this ticket, but if we don't hear from her
in a week I'll unflag it and let it die.

There's a new connector in the I drive under Joe's
folder. I'm going to try having that run tomorrow
on her machine and see if it fixes the issue.

Two possible fixes have not worked. One is to make
sure that any older versions of acrobat reader are
uninstalled. That has been done, problem persists.

The other is to disable the ability of acrobat to
open pdfs in the web browser and to actually force
them to open in adobe itself. This was also
unsuccessful.

The below error occurs regardless of if the file
is opened or saved and then opened.

I realized I've never typed in the full text of
the error. It is as follows:

Adobe Reader could not open 'DOCUMENT.PDF' because
it is either not a supported file type or because
the file has been damaged (for example, it was
sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly
decoded).

Can't open the pdf file she sent me in either
outlook or communications express. I've got the
newest version of acrobat reader as well as full
updates for office and windows etc.

Called and remoted in. Updated acrobat, did
windows and office updates, made sure she had the
newest java client. Nothing worked.

This looks to be an Outlook related problem. She's
going to email me the file and I'll try to open it
and see if we can figure this out.

Called to remote in. User didn't answer.
Accidentally launched dameware after phone call.
If user calls in a bit panicked about someone
connecting to her computer, it was me.

Left vm asking for her to call back when she's in
the office.

Hello,
 
I am having trouble opening ILL documents that I 
receive as PDF attachments from Hamersly 
Library.  The problem began last December and I 
contacted UCS about it in January.  The 
difficulty opening the attachments is 
intermittent, but recently has increased.  One 
thing that is odd, is that I can open in the 
documents on my home computer, save them, and e-
mail them back to myself.  I can then open the 
documents that I sent myself.
 
I don't know if this is related, but I'm also 
having problems with Java in Internet Explorer 
and with Macromedia.
