in over a week. I'm going to unflag the ticket.

Unfortunately there's no real way to convert
multiple files at once. You're going to have to go
through them one at a time and "Save As..." into a
Word format. However, for new files that you
create you can do this in the first place and no
conversion will be necessary.

As far as transferring the files from your home
machine to your work machine after they're
converted a USB thumb drive would most likely be
the easiest way to transport large numbers of
files from one machine to the other. These thumb
drives are for sale in the bookstore for a fairly
good price. If you have a significant number of
documents then something around 512MB would most
likely be the size you're looking for.

I hope that I understood your question. If I
misunderstood or you need additional information
or explanation please feel free to contact me or
call the help desk with your questions.

Thank you, Mike, for your help and your prompt
reply. I've dropped the ball on this, but again I
must face this and try for a solution. In fact,
what you suggested does indeed work - that is, to
change one document at a time so that it works on
my campus computer. But what I really want to do
is transfer several files (with many documents)
over in this same manner. I am hoping that you can
either tell me or show me how to accomplish this.

Would it work for me to make copies or alias' (I
don't know the difference - so please let me know
if one is better than the other in what I'm trying
to get accomplished here) of these files and burn
them onto a disc here at home. Then download that
disc onto my desktop at school. Then, can you show
or tell me how to switch those files over at that
time. Or, can I change them all at once here at
home before I put them on a disc? Obviously, I
need your help. Hope my questions are clear.
Also, I have a 'rural' line at home and cannot
receive, or send anything out, anything of much heft.

It shuts down the connection and nothing gets sent
or gets received. That's why I am thinking 'disc'.

Thanks, and hopefully awaiting your expertise.

Lynne Rainwater,

Hi, this is Mike from Computing Services. I'm
emailing you regarding your issue with using Apple
Work 6 on your home machine and trying to bring
the files to work here on campus on your PC.

When you save a document in Apple Work you can
choose to "save as" and then at the bottom of the
window you can select from a drop-down menu
different file types to save as. One of the
options is "Word 97, 2000, xp, 2003" or something
similar. If you choose this option and then save
the file to disk you should be able to open that
file using Microsoft Word on your work computer
here on Campus.

If this doesn't work for you or you have further
questions please call us at 88925 or email us at
ucshelpdesk@wou.edu.

In Apple Works you can save as... and save it as a
word document. I'm going to email her with this
info and then close the ticket.

Tuesday and Thursday 3-4p she is in her office.
She shares this office and is hoping that
whatever adjustments need to be made will not
affect the other two people who share the
computer. She said that she just needs to know
how to open the saved info on her PC in her
office.
