Linda says no info needs to be pulled from the HD.
When we find out, she would like to know what
parts need to be replaced and what the cost will
be for them.

Pulled the HD and hooked it up via usb to my
machine.  The HD is functional and we can pull and
data that needs to be saved from it.  Joe
currently has the laptop itself Frankensteined

Brought the laptop back to UCS.  It has definitely
been dropped and it definitely does not work.
