That time sounds fine to me. It shouldn't take long.

Tricia Flaherty handles software inventory and is
investigating the discrepancy, so you might be
required to use the terminal servers to access
Dreamweaver in the future. If that is the case a
technician can walk you through accessing it if
needed. For now, as mentioned, there is a copy of
Dreamweaver on your new computer.

I would be happy to show you how to find your H:
drive once you're back on campus. On Monday I am
available anytime after 12pm. I also need to meet
with you to move your old computer's data from the
folder it is hidden in on the new machine into
your H: drive. Please let me know a time that
suits you Monday afternoon.

Welcome back from sabbatical and thank you (in
advance) for your time,

Audrey Sundkvist

Hello Dr. Frankenberger,

I recently installed a new computer in your
office. As per your request I retrieved the old
data from your previous machines C: drive and have
stored it on the new one. It is extremely
important than you do not store anything on the C:
drive of any machine on campus for a number of
reasons. One being that computer technicians are
mainly students and must have administrator access
to the computers on campus in order to do our
jobs. Administrator access means that we have
access to all files on the C: drive; obviously,
this could be a security problem if you are
storing data on the C: drive. To my knowledge
there have been no instances of abuse of this job
related privilege, but it is better to be on the
safe side. A second reason to not use your C:
drive for storage is because of the possibility of
hardware failure. If there is a problem with your
computer tat requires the hard drive to be
replaced or erased you would lose all of your data
stored to it (the C: drive).

What should you save your data to? Your personal
H: drive! Everyone with a login on campus has a H:
drive. It can be accessed via "My Computer" (icon
on desktop or through the Start menu > My
Computer) as "mydocuments on 'cougar'(H:)" or
through the standard Windows folder "My Documents"
which should point to your H: drive automatically.
Your H: drive data is only available to you. You
can also access it from any machine on campus that
you log into. Since the data in your H: drive is
stored on a server that is regularly backed up any
data that becomes corrupted or lost can be
restored, which is unlike if that data were lost
from the C: drive.

As for the Dreamweaver copy you had: I installed
Dreamweaver on the new machine, but the license
number for it was from a purchase the library made
according to our records.

I have put equipment in TECH INBOX #1 with Setup
form(monitor below of course), Please note that
there is also some moving of old equipment
involved so read notes carefully:
Dr. Kristina Frankenberger will be returning from
sabbatical starting Fall term. She should also
be receiving a new computer. That new computer
will be installed in WH 106. The older compuer,
monitor, keyboard (20030812[Edit Inv], 20031312) that is
currently in WH 106 will be going to WH 111 for
Fall term. That computer will be used by Robin
Olsen and Steven Gallaher. Dr. Seabright's MAC
system that is on the computer desk can be left
on that desk but pushed to the side. There may
only be one jack in WH 111 which would mean
unplugging the MAC. The inventory is correct on
the new equipment but you will need to update
invenotry as you move old euqipment around
