Hi Tony,

I left a note on your desk explaining the
following, but also thought it might be good if I
put it into type in case my handwriting was
illegible and so you can reply back easily with
any questions.

The drivers and programs available from Dell do
not work very well with your new machine. So I put
a link on your desktop called "Scanner" that will
open up the default Windows "scanner wizard." If
you follow the steps it will scan an image for
you. I would be happy to help you with this wizard
if you want, but it is pretty simple to use. The
scanner wizard can also be found by going to "My
Computer" found in the Start menu and scrolling
down to the bottom. It should be the same icon as
the on on your desktop but named the same thing as
your printer. If you need any help don't hesitate
to let me know!

Your printer should function fine.

If you really want the Dell All-in-One program I
can try to find a solution, but at this time the
program is not functioning properly, which is why
I put the link to the Windows Scan Wizard on the
desktop.

Thank you for your patience and willingness to
turn your machine over to me for long periods of
time. I left the Owners manual and CDs beside the
scanner. Please hold on to them.

Talked with Dell again. The drivers available
online do not work with the scanner. The Vista
drivers will work with the scanner but won't work
with the printer. So, Dell is sending me a disk
with drivers. I will be called on Monday about this.

Also, the scanner worked before Tony's machine was
replaced but not since.

I reinstalled the sound driver and it works fine now.

I was on the phone with Dell about the scanner
though. The computer recognizes AIO as a printer
but does not communicate as a scanner. After
unzipping the driver you get a VBScript run time
error. The printer person transferred me to the
computer support department who were throughly
confused about my being transferred to them for
this so they told me to call he printer people again.

Audrey, is this likely the same sound issue that
you and Myron ran into?  Assigning to you based on
that.  If not, then proceed to troubleshoot as normal.

He came in person to front desk, he will call 
back with the WOU number.

Sound driver:
He worked with Mike on it. They tried a download 
that didn't work. Still not resolved.

Scanner:
962 Printer was reinstalled, printing works, 
scanning does not. Gives an error message saying 
to check usb cable.

His machine is an optiplex 8400 or 8600. New 
about a month ago. CMCX
