The Domain Users group now has admin access to the
machine. I also installed DeepFreeze. All
faculty and students should be able to use the scanner

Instead of a local admin account, I will go ahead
and give admin privs to the MASH 'Users' group.
Then I will install DeepFreeze

Through some tests I ran with Dale, it looks like
only members of the administrator group (locally
or on mash) can use the scanner. Brad has agreed
that the best option would to create a local admin
account and install DeepFreeze. He will work with
me on this next week.

Looks like the twain drivers will only allow
admins to use the scanner...I contacted Roy and
asked to get the contact info he has for the
scanner people. He said he could get it to me on
Monday

Brian checked to make sure it worked with another
users, but after he left the library other useres
were not able to install Epson scanner software.
The error message still reads: need admin rights.

Skyped Brian.

I've played with the termination on the SCSI
controller, replugged in all cables, uninstalled
and reinstalled the TWAIN drivers, the scanner
device, and the SCSI controller.....no luck. I'm
at a loss, Brad have at it.

I talked to a tech over on their end. After
explaining the situation and describing everything
I have tried he concluded that it is definitely a
windows problem.

I've tied various methods of installing the device
drivers with no luck. Roy supplied me with a
technical service number (503-653-7096) which I
called and made a service request with their
support team. They are supposed to call me back
later today.

Gave Roy admin privs. Installed scanner TWAIN
driver, but Windows still recognizes it as an
unknown device. I can select the scanner from
Adobe Acrobat, as if it were installed properly,
but when I click 'Scan,' I get an error message.
Roy suggests we

UCS Help Desk:

I tested the new computer which was recently
installed as part of service call 22784. The WOU#
is 20070138[Edit Inv]. When I login using my account,
bennetr, there is a dialog box which says the
hardware for the Minolta MS2000 SCSI Scanner
Device needs to be installed. The dialog box
requires an admin login which I do not have.
Indeed, when in Acrobat, the scanner is not found.

Please give this task a higher priority since it
is needed for classes at this time.

Thank you, Roy Bennett

Tricia, Joe, and Dale:

I've finally located the remaining 2002 LMS staff computer -
WOU#20020703[Edit Inv]

It is located in HL103, the first floor Copy Center. This computer
functions as the Microform Scanning Station. The computer has
a SCSI card which attaches to a Minolta MS2000 microform
scanning unit. You can check to make sure the same kind of
SCSI card which we purchased for our flatbed scanners will be
appropriate or not for this situation. Please let me know if I
should place an order for the same SCSI card.

The only special software needed for this computer is Acrobat.
The current license should be Acrobat 6 Pro.
There may be some kind of device driver for the Minolta which
needs to be installed as well. Perhaps Dale remembers.

What is the current roll out date for the Reserves Room
replacement?

When someone tries to log on to the machine it
says it cannot find the Mash domain. He has had
multiple people try logging on.
