Joe called hima and told him to restart and it
should work. But he rebooted -
He called back and he is still getting the same
error message:

Earlier version of MSOffice is blocked in this
version by your registry policy settings.

****This is an email****
Hi Paul,

Microsoft recently released a few patches that blocked files from
opening that were created under very old versions of Office. I've
disabled those settings throughout campus. If you reboot your
machine, you should now be able to open documents that
generated the error message you relayed to us.

thanks,

He is unable to open word docs which were email
attachments that he has saved.

registry poilicy setting.
When he tries to simply open email attachements
which are word docs, a blank word document opens.
When he elects the save option when clicking on
attachment, he is unable to later open the saved
document--he gets an error message saying needs
rights.

Dell desktop

Times: Office is always open.
