Done. I renamed the Lab-NS116 printer to
Lab-NS116$ so that it would be hidden from the
list on Radar. There is a login script for the
NS116 OU that adds the NS116 printer to the computer.

Rahim:
We will fix the problem.

Myron:
Alex is going to take over this task. We will set
it up so that the printer only accepts jobs from
the lab in NS116.

Alex:
Thanks for the help.
Bill

Dear Myron,

Apparently, there has been a misunderstanding or
miscommunication here. Of course, the printer
belongs to the
students and they paid for it. The request (or
question) was
about WASTE. I do not know whether there is a
solution to this
problem or we should let go. Here is the problem:

Since this colored ink jet printer is on the
network, students
(in NS building or somewhere on campus, we do not
know )
inadvertently select this printer and print their
paper,
projects, etc. They never pick those papers up. We
decided to
turn it off when not in use, but we noticed as
soon as we turn
it on the next day, it stars printing. So, to us
is a total
waste of colored inkjet cartridge and paper.

Dear Prof. Kazerouni,

The printer in NS 116 the HP business inkjet 2800dtn.

This printer is a Student Tech printer bought by
the students and hence why students print to it.

According to Bill Kernan, if you want have the
printer for just faculty use your department must
purchase the printer from student tech.

Feel free to reply to me if you have any other
questions.

Thanks,

this is a student tech printer I am going to talk
to Bill about this situation

The situation is that students are printing to
the Inkjet printer in between NS 115 & 116 by
accident, and what the faculty then does is turn
OFF the printer when they are not using it.

When they turn the printer back ON, there are
tons of jobs that come through the printing que
from students. They want to know how to stop
these from printing.

He is available all day until 4pm everyday.
