The ringing noise was actually a beeping noise
made from the onboard speaker.  They have a
wireless keyboard hooked up as a secondary
keyboard.  It is in a cupboard and something had
fallen on it, pressing down multiple keys.  This
was causing the beeping.

The last time they were able to boot was this 
morning. Now when they try, nothing happens, 
except that they hear a ringing noise when they 
turn it on, but other than that, nothing.

This is a staff machine that is at the Reference 
Desk.
