The sound adjustment icon had been removed from the tray, so I 
added it nd adjusted the volume as Brian had suggested. Worked 
fine.

OK, this type of task has come up at least 3 other
times.  I usually just open the volume control and
that takes care of it, even if they say they've
tried.

Kristen at the Library reference desk called. 
Reference computer number 35 is not producing any 
sound on headphones. They have tried opening the 
volume control and nothing changes.
