I went and setup this computer. She wanted to keep
the old one setup so that she can move the files
from one to the other and then she will call and
have us move the old one... Closing the task.

It was demanded that Skyler set this up today
before 5pm. I have had bad experiences setting up
a computer for TRI like this before.

Hi Pattie,

It'd be easiest for the programs to be installed
before delivery so that any problems can be
resolved in our workspace here. I can easily
post-pone the setup and delivery until next week.
I will contact you next week again to help you
understand the information about programs and the
proper way to save data for the transfer. Best

Audrey,

Thank you for letting me know my computer is near!
 At this time I am heavily involved in preparing a
report to Congress that is due this week.  I do
not have time right now to learn how to comply
with your request, and am hoping we can work out a
interim solution.

I have access to an additional network hookup
available, and would really appreciate access to
my new machine and monitor while I finish this
current work project, and before I will have time
to go through the process you describe below.  Can
we have my new computer delivered toady and set up
with the basic stuff, and schedule a time next
week when someone can work with me to inventory my
programs and supporting documentation to complete
the process?

Hi Pattie,

I am setting up a new computer for you and need
your assistance to make the transition as smooth
as possible. Please provide me with a list of
programs you will need installed on your new
computer. Any programs will require licenses to be
installed, so if you do not have the software on
your current computer it cannot be installed on
the new one unless TRI has purchased new software
for you. Version numbers are needed for
installations as well. Here is an example of the
information I need:
"Adobe Acrobat Pro 8
CorelDraw10"

Also please be absolutely sure all data is stored
to a network drive. These are found in My
Computer. The "MyDocuments (H:\)"
 drive is your personal space on the network
server and accessible by only your personal login
credentials; it is the most secure way to store
data. Some departments also have employees save
data to the staff "I:\" drive. This drive is
shared by everyone in your department. Anything
located on your computer's desktop or C:\ drive
will not be available on your new computer. Please
be sure to move any data stored there into a
network drive.

I will be able to continue your computer setup
once I have the list of needed programs of you.

This is a new mini-tower desktop of Pattie Johnson
in TRI, please contact her for info on software
that may need to be transfered from old computer.
 I have put in the additional RAM already.  FYI
she has already requested to get the monitor ASAP
if not the whole computer I told Lisa Wilson I was
going to only put in one service request so
deliver monitor before the tower at your own
discretion.  If you run into any questions about
software to be transfered I can help answer
licensing questions, I will put the tower and
monitor on counter in ITC 008 with invoice and
setup sheet
