I can try installing with what we have and see if
that works. I left Ken a message saying I need to
know when he'll be in his office.

Ken called to find out what the status was. He
seems very concerned.

Also, on his loaner machine he is having trouble
deleting bookmarks.

Ken called about his computer, I told him that
Audrey had been doing everything in her power to
get the registration info and get it loaded. He
asked if in the meantime he could get his
computer back and have the ISAAC alarm loaded. I
think Nathan has info on that, maybe. Thanks!

****This is an email****Hi Ken,

I am at a bit of a standstill with the Quantum
Software. I've contacted the company that owns
Quantum and received no responses; that includes
an email to their technical support and
individuals' emails Teresa provided me. I
contacted Travis Knabe, but he didn't deal with
this situation. His dealings with Quantum regarded
setup, not registration. At the time the
registration info was not AWOL. I cannot install
the software without the registration, but have
been unsuccessful in obtaining it.

The next step is for me to call Quantum's 1800
number, if there is one, and try to talk my way
through their customer service for some help. This
usually involves a lot of wasted time on hold. I
will try it though, but we;ve been very busy with
new setups and faculty moves. I try to contact
Quantum as soon as we have some "downtime."

Thank you so much for your patience with this,

[From Travis]

The only thing I remember is that it is a client
server install of software that is not supported (
its been about 4 years since its been supported )

There is a SQL Server Database running I believe
on Hawkeye with the data.

That's about all I remember.

Hi Travis,

I was told you're the guy to contact about
Quantum. It's software that Telecom uses. We have
the following software specifically:

    * Quantum Series 32 Bit Installation v7.4.100
    * Quantum Series Telemanagment Software Suite
(4 user license)
    * Quantum Series SQLAnywhere Installation
v5.5.04 (single user license)

The problem is that each disc asks for a
registration code, but we've only got the CDs and
CD cases. We don't have the registration codes. Do
you have any recollection of how to install these?
I tried contacting the company that owns Quantum,
but have received no response.

Thank for the help,

Travis was here last night to work with Dave on
some server stuff. I left him a note asking him to
email me whatever info he might know about Quantum.

Hi Ken,

I am giving you an update on the Quantum software,
because I am working on getting that back on your
machine. It is proving difficult though! Telecom
itself kept the media for Quantum, and the
registration information as well. Teresa was able
to give me the CDs, but they require a
registration number, which we could not find. I
emailed the company with rights to Quantum (The
Angeles Group that makes it was bought by Veramark
in 2000) for help, but have not received anything
back yet. If they do not contact me by Wednesday I
will try contacting Travis Knabe, even though he
doesn't work for us anymore, to see if he has any
advice.

That's where we're at right now! Thank you for
your patience,

The Angeles Group, which made Quantum, was bought
out by Veramark in 2000.

So I contacted Veramark's tech support.

Hello,

I am a technician at Western Oregon University in
need of some help, and I hope I am contacting the
right person. We have some software from The
Angeles Group known as "Quantum Series." We have
the following software specifically:

    * Quantum Series 32 Bit Installation v7.4.100
    * Quantum Series Telemanagment Software Suite
(4 user license)
    * Quantum Series SQLAnywhere Installation
v5.5.04 (single user license)

The problem is that each disc asks for a
registration code, but we've only got the CDs and
CD cases. We have, over time, lost the
registration codes. Please let me know who to
contact or what steps to take in order to get
those codes.

Thank you,

I put his machine back in his office and setup the
"wiretap.wou.edu" printer, but he still needs Quantum.

Ken needs two special software programs:
ISACC - installed Friday by Nathan
Quantum - waiting to install

I cannot install Quantum because the CDs Teresa
Bybee provided me with have no registration code,
which is required for installation. She is not in yet.

Paul recommended exporting bookmarks with ken

This sounds like Antivirus XP 2008 - which
requires a reimage. Ken is rarely at his desk, and
will be hard to contact.

Ken called and said that his machine is getting
pop up messages that read:

Spyware alert

He doesn't know who the messages are from when I
asked him.
He just started to receive the error messages
this morning.
His machine is located in the AD 004 office
downstairs.
