The response I got from Audrey was "Thanks Richard"
so I'm going to guess that she's okay using
outlook and VLC.

****This is an email****
Hello,
This is Richard from University Computing
Services. I'm sending this email in response to
the problems you've been having on your new computer.

First I'll address shared calenders in
outlook. Unfortunately, due to a compatibility
issue between the current version of Microsoft
Outlook and the e-mail server we use, Sun Java's
communications express, we are not able to get
shared calenders to work in Microsoft Outlook. We
have contact ed Sun Java about this problem and
are still awaiting a server side fix for this.
If you do not have a palm device that you need
to sync to then you can use Mozilla Thunderbird.
Thunderbird is a free e-mail client that is very
similar to Outlook. If you'd like to explore this
option we can send someone down to help you set
this up.

Now to address your issue with playing DVD's
in Windows Media Player. If you are just needing
to view DVD's their should be a program on your
computer called VLC Media Player. VLC should be
able to play DVD's on your computer. If you need
DVD's to be able to play in Windows Media Player
for some reason, like embedding DVD video into
power point, you can download a software pack to
make this work. Again we would be more than happy
to send a tech down to help install this for you
if you do need VLC does not work for your needs.

Please feel free to get back to us at extension
88925 or you can e-mail me at rkavanagh08@wou.edu

Hope this helps,
Richard Kavanagh

My computer number is 20071246[Edit Inv]. Since receiving
the new computer I haven't been able to access
shared calendars on Outlook.

I am also unable to play DVDs on Windows Media
