I replaced the DVI cable with a VGA cable since
the DVI pci card had been removed and replaced
with the microscope's TV capture card.  I operated
the computer for about 17-18 minutes without any
issues.  Updated Firefox.  There appears to be a
Java update available.  I'm leaving the ticket
open so that I can be advised about updates, etc.
and about logging replaced cables, pci cards, etc.
