This is a problem with the scanner portion of the
printer.  I can't really do much if there is
something wrong with this.

This sounds like that the scan portion of the 
printer needs to be cleaned.  If it is only 
showing up while making copies Please check on 
that, I am working with Lisa wilson to get a new 
laptop ordered and was looking for the related 
task I edited the description to reflect both 
problems

He says the line still goes through it - only 
when you try to copy something from it - when he 
prints its fine.

I got the thing to copy without the line.  I also
installed the Java update on his computer.  I
picked up the laptop as mentioned in the note below.

Tammy Carmichael ED 232 ext 88166, please call 
her, since she has keys to the office.  He will 
be out of the office but we can contact her. 
 He also has a laptop for us to look at, which 
won't start up, bought through teaching research, 
which he wants us to pick up when we look at the 
printer.  It doesnt have a WOU number.  He says 
it won't start up at all either plugged in or on 
battery.

The compuiter and his printer are both in his 
office. When he prints something a black line 
cuts through his text on the paper. He is in no 
hurry to get this fixed.
