It went smoothly. I had her test it to and from
internal and external addresses and I think she's
good to go! Thanks!

Don,

If Robin needs Outlook, you can login to her
machine, go to Add/Remove Programs on the Control
Panel, click on Office, and select Change,
Customize, and then put a check mark in the
Outlook box.

I will be in the office at 11.
Also, download this file:
http://www.wou.edu/~berkleyb/stuff/9dec08.ex_ and
then rename it to 9dec08.exe and run it when Robin
is logged in so she can fill in her username and
stuff to setup Outlook.

If you need help, give me a call around 11ish.

Brian

Since I will be out of town for a week, if someone
else could remote into her box and set this up
that would be great!

Hi-

First let me say THANK YOU for sending down the
new machine. I am up and running.

Except, MS outlook does not appear to be on the
machine. Can you add it or do you prefer that I
use a different email program?

Thanks-
Robin

I'm not sure if the computer being sent to Eugene
is a temp. computer so I am not changing its name.

Email from Jan 13:

Is anything really happening on Robin's machine?
It doesn't look like
it from here.

Robin submitted this request 12/23. She cannot
work. Please, please,
please, is there something that can be done to
get her machine fixed?

Thank you,

Don

 Hey,

Robin cannot work; any progress on her machine?
it is locked to us but doesn't look like anything
has happened on it for days. Is there anything I
can do to help?

Robin Barbier is unable to work because of
serious problems with her computer. It was/is
infected by Spyguard2008 and maybe more. I got it
to limp along enough for her to get her files
off. I can't get it to run properly, however.

Because we are in Eugene, bringing the box in is
not easy. Do you have suggestions how we can
proceed?

ONe possibility I thought might work is for you
to set up a fresh hard drive and send it to us. I
can swap them and send you the bad one.

Other suggestions are appreciated. I'm not sure
if you can remotely work on it.

Thanks,
Don

Her computer does not have a WOU number- its a
TRI one obtained before they got WOU numbers in
Eugene.

Nasty virus. Need to run Malwarebytes a few
times, SpyBot a few times, and then a Sophos or
AVG scan. Best to run 1 round of scans in
safe-mode and then another after normal startup.
If you really cannot boot to safe-mode, the hard
drive can be pulled, hooked up to a different
machine, and the scans can be run from there. A
new image would probably be best at that point.
Eugene FTW!

This morning VirusRemover 2008 & Spygaurd 2008
self installed on my machine. It will not let me
delete them in add/remove programs and is
repeatedly causing my system to crash. The
machine will not start up in safe mode either.
Can you help???????
