His machine is just old. I uninstalled superfluous
things like Windows Desktop Search 3.1 (ugh) and
removed some start-up programs (Quicktime and Sonic).

His computer is moving extremely slow. His 
microsoft word is having problems with saving and 
retrieving.

I just took a look at the machine and it is
starting up fine, it was probably installing
updates that day and so it was slow logging in.

He is in his office now until noon and is 
available 1400 10 1500 today  teaches tues and 
thurs.
He does not need to be there for you to fix it.
