Emailed Kay on 5/5/09:

Hi Kay,

Hope your doing well! I haven't seen you in
forever!

We have a service request for you (#31777) that
was in regards to not being able to open a file
and a message that says "locked out for
editing". We were checking to see if this was
still happening for you.

Let us know if Brian Berkley's instructions
worked.

Thanks!

****This is an email****
Kay,

You need to open the file, save it to a new name,
and contact the unix folks at unix@wou.edu to
delete the "locked" file.

Sometimes when a connection is lost to the network
server hosting the file shares while a file is
open can result in the file appearing to open when
it actually is not.

Last term and the start of this term we have been
migrating network server storage to new servers
that don't have this problem.

The file reflects the configured owner of the
office suite, which in this case is the person
that set it up on the machine that the image for
your computer was derived from.

You can go to Tools, Options, General and change
the user name field at the bottom to avoid any
confusion.
