But he tried to re-install but the computer read
it as an update so he stopped. But it also says
that the product numbers are incorrect.

The two programs are SigmaStat and SigmaPlot.
They were both on his old machine, and were past 
on to his new machine when he was updated. When 
he tries to use them however, an error 
message ,"you're license number is not correct." 
and when he presses ok everything disappears. He 
has all the discs but he doesnt know how to gain 
access to put in the licensing number.
