I got a new AC adapter and powercord for his
laptop.  I tried to get a new battery but it is
out of warranty.

His AC adapter is not holding or delivering a
charge to the computer.

He's available all today or can leave the adapter
on his desk and he gives permission to "adopt my
laptop".
