The DVI port on his computer is bad, so I brought
an adapter to use the VGA cable on his monitor and
everything is working.

Jay Gense is having difficulty getting his 
desktop computer to run two monitors. It is not 
recognizing the second attached display (Gateway 
FHD2100). The display card is dual display 
capable.
