Hi Teresa,

No this has not been resolved. My printer still
shows 49. FF05 Service Error. I can not print
with this message. Please have someone fix this
ASAP (it has been a few weeks now that this has
been a problem).

Thanks much!

PS: I am tied up all day today with finals. If
someone is able to look at it today they can get
a key from Sp Ed office :-)

Hey this is Jordan with the UCS. I looked up the
error code, and it suggests sever solutions. So
when you print something and it gives you that
error, write down what program you were using when
you printed, and we can narrow it down. Thanks so
much!

5 Check for any non-HP memory DIMMs (If any extra
memory is installed, remove it). Click here for
detailed instructions for installing and
configuring memory DIMM.
NOTE: EDO RAM memory is not supported on HP
Color LaserJet 4500 printers and may generate a 49
error if installed.

6 Reinstall the formatter board.

7 Reconnect the power cord and turn the power on.

8 If the 49 error returns, perform a cold reset.
(If the 49 error returns, contact HP).If the 49
error clears, turn the printer off, reinstall
items removed earlier, and turn printer on. If the
error returns, try to isolate which part is
causing the problem.

9 Try to isolate which part is causing the problem
by removing and reinstalling the parts that were
removed, one part at a time.

SOLUTION: Generally, 49 errors are communication
errors and can be solved by following the steps in
this document.

   1.
Turn the printer off, and then turn it on
again. If the 49 error clears, proceed to Step 9.
   2.
If the 49 error returns turn the power off,
unplug the power cable, disconnect all network
cables, and remove the HP Jetdirect card, which is
located on the formatter, (see Figure 1 for
location), or any third-party devices, if installed.
   3.
Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging the
printer back in directly to a wall outlet. Do not
plug the printer into a power strip or a surge
protector.
   4.
Turn the printer on, using a cold reset. If
the 49 error returns, turn the power off, and
unplug the printer. Remove the formatter, and
check that the parallel I/O board is firmly
installed on the formatter board.
NOTE: To perform a cold reset, turn the
printer off, and hold down the GO button while
turning the printer back on. Remember to remove
the Jetdirect card (if installed) before
performing a cold reset. (The Jetdirect card is
located on the formatter).
