Hi Robert,

We were just checking in with you regarding a
service request that we have for you (#37309)
relating to not being able to update your MacOSX.

I believe Richard took care of this for you but
we just wanted to follow up and make sure
everything was okay before we closed the task.

If we can be of any assistance, just let us know
and we'll be happy to help.

Thanks,

Hey,

I stopped by your office yesterday and got your iMac to update.
The first time I tried it listed 13 updates that needed to be
installed but when I told it to update the window just
disappeared. I then quit the update application and installed the
updates one at a time. This worked and they have all been
installed. I don't think that this will be necessary in the future.
My guess is that number of updates that needed to be installed
was causing the issue.

I did not have a chance to look at the problem with moving files
over to your public_html drive while I was there, but I know that
something like that has come up before and I'll ask around to see
how that was resolved.

Thank you for your time,
Richard Kavanagh

Hi Richard,

Sorry, but I was in Newberg & McMinnville for supervision today
until about 2:30 pm so didn't even make it to campus. On
Monday I'm in Newport Intermediate School for supervision and
that is likely to be for most of the day. Tuesday I'm still awaiting
confirmation from a student as to supervision.

I think the best plan is the one you suggested. I think you
should get the master key for the offices on the ground floor of
the CoE from Jenny Lacey in ED 201 (I'm copying Jenny on this)
and just go into my office (ED 160) when it's convenient for you
and do your magic to make my iMac better. I've also cc'd our
admin assistant, Kathy Heide, so that she knows you have my
permission to go into my office -- Kathy's office is ED 220.

Probably the only thing you need to know is that I turn off the
power to my hardware via the surge protector -- the power
switch for the surge protector is a white button device on a
power cord that hangs at the front of the black file boxes to the
right of my iMac.

I said there was only one issue, but in fact there are two:

1) my iMac will NOT upgrade my software even when I enter my
password (System Prefs: Software Upgrade)
2) I cannot get folders from my desktop to copy to my P:
(public_html) drive -- the folder is copied but there is nothing
inside the folder -- if you know of a fix for that, PLEASE go
ahead and fix the problem (permissions perhaps???). I did
contact Bill Kernan on this (e-mail below)

10.6.2) to P: drive (public_html:)

Thanks Bill. ... Something tells me that this might be a 10.6.2
glitch as it only started happening when I installed the latest
security upgrade to 10.6.2 and that was 2-3 weeks ago.

Hey,

Sorry I wasn't able to come by yesterday but I was out for most of
the afternoon. If it's alright with you I can go by and take look
this afternoon. I know I can get a key at the front desk but I'd
need your permission to go into your office. Let me know if
that's alright. If not I'm available next week in the afternoons on
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and nearly all day Tuesday and
Thursday so just let me know what times work for you.

Thank for your time,
Richard

Hey Richard,

Long time no see you! Boy, do I need your help. For some reason
my iMac will NOT let me update any software -- I tell it to do so
via Software Update and it does nothing,

This past week it won't even update my iCal and Contacts via
iTunes -- I have upgraded my home iMac and MacBook to the
newest version of iTunes, so I assume there's now an
incompatibility issue.

I just phone UCS to say I'd REALLY like to see you work on my
iMac today (Thurs) as I won't be back at WOU until Tuesday or
possibly Wednesday as I'm supervising a lot in the schools this
term.

Thanks and I hope to see you today.

He's been about to install them before. In the
last six weeks or two months, this has become an
issue.
