Laura,

The dock problem should be resolvable by doing this:

Delete this file, log out and log back in (have to
do it from a terminal).
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
Each command should be followed by hitting the
enter key on the keyboard.

cd Library
cd Preferences
rm -rf com.apple.dock.plist

Be very careful with the rm -rf command, it will
delete things without confirmation, so if you
don't have the full file name, or use a wildcard,
it will delete the wrong thing.

She was not using a file extension, and the file
shows up for other mac users as a Unix Executable
File, told her to use file extensions and to
rename files and append the extension on ones that
don't have it

Laura,

Lets do a TeamViewer session on Monday, go here:
http://www.wou.edu/~bberkley/stuff/mac.zip

Download it, extract it, and run it.

Call me with the 9 digit ID number, and I can
remote into your system and you can demonstrate
exactly what is going on so we can get it fixed
for you.

Thanks,

Laura,

It seems some people in your office don't have the
Office compatibility pack installed, that would
prevent them from opening a .docx file.

Are you saving office documents with a file
extension or without?

When she saves on her Mac with Word it saves and
then when she tries to open it on the server, they
are unable to read it. There is a long process to
be able to open the actual document. When she
emails it as an attachment it also isn't able to
open unless she:

right click on attachment and click "open with"
and then Microsoft Word and you can see it then.
