Hi Teresa~
FYI. Not sure if, since case was closed, the
continuing issue will be
addressed. Thanks, John

Hi Paul~
Left you a voice message late this afternoon and
knowing how busy you are,
decided to reply to your email. My new computer,
apparently with the most
updated wireless advances (according to IBM and
independent sources),
readily connects at a minimum of 54 Mbps at every
wireless opportunity -
except in Todd Hall. Whether in a coffee shop, at
home or a hotel lobby - it
just reliable goes to 54. Even around WOU, if I
go to the library, it
immediately and dependably connects at 58! These
data suggest that the
wireless card is working. In Todd Hall, I very
occasionally get to 36 but
most often stay at 24, which is at times even
hard to browse effectively
with. For my admin job at TR, I am often going
from office to office and
meeting rooms to meet with staff with my laptop,
and accessing various URL's
and mail. It's pretty sluggish and we end up
waiting on it. Not sure when
you did the work today, but for a few hours (and
only from my office) I did
get a 48 Mbps connection. By the end of the day,
it was back to 24. Is there
something that differentiates the Todd routers
from the library? Thanks very
much for having gotten back to me this afternoon.
John Reiman

John called back to say that it's still not
working like it should be and he asked to talk to
Paul directly.

Hi John,

You should have a better wireless signal now.
There is an access point a few doors down from
your office whose power supply failed. I replaced
the power supply and it is up and working now.

11-038 - John is not receiving a strong wireless
signal in Todd Hall

John Reiman got a new laptop and he used to have
a fast speed but he has a new laptop and it's way
slow. He used to get 54 mps and now he is getting
24/36 mps with his NEW laptop in Todd Hall. So he
did a walk around survey and found that the
Library, he had 66 mps and in finding this he has
discovered that Todd Hall needs much more
wireless service and coverage.
