Thursday Lori showed me what was going on with the
computer. I observed how it was not connecting to
the network and how she shook it and then was able
to login to the computer. I brought the computer
back to the UCS office and again tested
everything. I tried to recreate what Lori did but
I couldn't make the computer loose network or
keyboard or mouse connectivity. I ran some updates
on the computer and replaced the mouse and
keyboard, in case they were causing the error. I
also tightened the network tab to ensure it was
seated securely in the port. The computer has been
set backup in the library and Lori is going to
keep an eye on it. Another thought is maybe the
USB connection to from the monitor to the system
maybe causing issues?

This machine still needs to be located. Was at
public safety fixing a virus. It has to be around
the office on a desk.

I looked at the computer and took the motherboard
out of it. There isn't anything that appears to
be physically wrong with it. We have it in the
back and are running an endurance test on the net
work card.

Talked to Lori and Adam about it. The problem is
the board that has the usb and ethernet port. it
wiggles and disconnects the keyboard and/or the
netwwork

If possible, call Lori H for details about how it
is the panel on the computer instead of the actual
cables themselves. Or you can see her before
going to work on the computer.

It is having the same problems today. It is not a
network problem it has to do with the cords in the
back. When you fiddle with the cords it will
start working. Otherwise it will just go in and out.

fixed. For some reason the port on the switch
didn't work. I moved it to another port and it
works fine. The bad port is gi4/0/27

Work Performed
-	Checked all cables on the back of the computer.
All cables were connected securely except for the
network cable.
-	Attempted to make the latch a little tighter on
the RJ45 connector, forcing it the seat more
securely into the NIC port.
-	Connector is seated a little better but the tab
is about to break of.
-	NIC would not get an IP address.
-	Traded cables and ports with another computer.
The NIC now gets an IP address.
-	Replaced the original cable and port causing the
NIC to get a network connection but not able to
receive an IP address.

Current Status:
-	I believe that the network problem may be
somewhere beyond the network port.
-	The port is labled 050A081, Port C.

Next Steps:
-	Have networking test the network connection for
further issues.

the ports that are on the back of the compute are
loose. if the computer is moved the everything
stops working. The keyboard mouse and ethernet
does not work. Lori is able to get it to work
until the computer is bumped and it all stops
working.

I need to speak to Lori when she gets in. I cannot
find anything wrong with the box. No errors in the
log that would associate with this problem.

She called to ask for the ticket to be re-opened.
The same thing is happening that was before. She
said that the problem is intermittent and so it
may appear that it is working, and then it
doesn't.
She would also like it if when you come you could
check in with her (Lori)

USB's and Monitor had a problem because the leader
screws were over half way out. The monitor was
going in and out because of this. Someone messed
with the screws. I also checked the motherboard
and it was screwed in correctly.

The ports on the back of the machine are not
connecting strongly. They are losing their
connections for the monitor as well as USBs. She
thinks the port board has come loose. It is
W#20070117[Edit Inv], Ref#13.
