Hard restarted his computer. This fixed the
problem. If it happens again may have to do more
diagnostics.

He said the screen says it is trying to resume
windows, for advanced options pretty F8.  He is
temporarily located in the Columbia Room (because
of construction in WUC).  His computer is W#20050905[Edit Inv].
