Scott,

You can click on the flag notice, it's called
Action Center, and turn off the messages because
you have admin rights.  I'll look into disabling
those messages by group policy.

Since the migration to windows 7 their are red X's
on the bottom right corner of the home screen.
They say, "Turn on windows firewall(important)"
and "Change windows update settings (important)". 

The computer is still functioning and they are
going to ignore the notes until we can take a look
at it.
