The Microsoft applications were not mapped to the
file extensions.
She would click on a word document and the system
did not know which application would be used to
open the application.
To fix the problem:
She needed to right click on the file (any Word
document) and choose "open with" and then choose
"other". Click the "always open with" check box
and then pick Microsoft Word from the application
list (it's in a Microsoft folder).

This sets the system default for that extension to
Microsoft Word.

****This is an email****

I called back and left a message...with can't
remember regarding that same question. I cannot
go to the server and open saved files. The one I
was looking for was retrieved by dragging the
syllabi to the desktop and then dragging into
word. So does that fix all the files saved to
the server?

Nathan recently was working on her computer
(backing up information), and she has had this
problem since: She is trying to connect to her
H:. She hits, Go, Connect to Server and the path
for her H: is there and it will open up, but the
files are not complete. It will show her the
files, but it is only a few of the words, not the
actual file.

Her co-worker told her to drag and drop the file
into Word, and she did and the entire file came
up. So this is not urgent, but she wants it to be
looked at next week. Next week she works only in
the mornings until 11:00am.
