The computer will reboot now but doesn't have the
same log in as is used to. The laptop use to have
a single username which was math and the password
was Calculus! 

Scott would like this laptop to have the single
log in instead of everyone having to log in with
their own information.

To the good folks at UCS,

I left a phone message; I repeat that information
here.

WOU# 20031358[Edit Inv]

It's a Dell Latitude D600, it runs Windows XP, and
last weekend (1/14) I opened it up and did my
usual monthly "turn it on and ensure that all the
relevant updates are installed and working"
(windows, adobe, sophos, etc.).  At that time, I
verified that it was in good working order.

Yesterday 1/20, we attempted to boot it for use in
a department meeting, and it did not get past a
DOS screen in which the error message was "Windows
could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM."

Please help; this laptop is of significant use to
our department.  My number is 88205; please feel
free to call me with any questions.  The laptop
itself will be in case in a locked cabinet in MNB
(Winters) 116, our front office.  Our
Administrative Specialist Sharon Price staffs that
office; I have cc'd her as well as the rest of the
department on this email.

Would you be so kind as to take a look at the
laptop? When you drop by Sharon can open the
cabinet for you.  Also, each math faculty member
also has a key to MNB 116 and to the cabinet, so
as long as either Sharon or a faculty member is
available, you'll be able to pick up the unit
(faculty: it's the laptop in the smaller of the
two laptop cases).  Thanks so much for handling
this as quickly as possible.  We appreciate all
you do to keep the machines running smoothly!  Best,
