The issue with this spreadsheet is specific to
this exact spreadsheet. I have walked Shelby
through saving in the new .xlsx format and
directed him back to the spreadsheet author for
the changes he is wanting to see.

to me
Good afternoon UCS service request desk staff:

Blake had come over earlier this afternoon as
quickly as he could to install Office 2007 on my
Dell so that I could operate Excel 2007 and begin
inputting numbers on the Student Media budget and
for that I am extremely thankful.

However, when I tried just now to open the new
Excel spreadsheet, the following messages came up.
My WOU computer number on my old computer is
20050905[Edit Inv]. This is a Dell Optiplex.

The message is: "Repairs to
'Case_Shelby_STUDENMEDIA11050FY14_COMPATABLE-1.xls[Read-Only]
[Repaired] [Compatibility Mode] - Microsoft Excel"

Excel was able to open the file by repairing or
removing the unreadable content. Then in a white
box below, the message continues to state, "Excel
recovered your formulas and cell values, but some
data may have been lost. Click to view log file
listing repairs: C:
/DOCUME~1/cases/LOCAL~1/Temp/error005080 01.xm1

Here is how my schedule is looking for someone to
come over and try to help me on this. I will be in
tomorrow morning at least starting at 7:30 and
hopefully by 6:30 a.m. in the interests of making
more progress on the budget. I have a 2:45-5 p.m.
appointment in Salem tomorrow. I will be in the
office on Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. and possibly earlier at 6:30 a.m. On
Friday, I have a 9-9:30 meeting.

Thanks, as always, for your time and help.

Shelby has a REALLY OLD computer but is in a non
general fund area(Student Media) his computer has
Office 2003 but he is being sent files of xslx
type and needs to get Office 2007 installed as
soon as possible so that he can work on budget
excel files. He has purchased an upgrade license
so we are good to install as office 2007. I have
let him know that his computer is way past its
typical life cycle and needs to be replaced soon
and he is hoping to fit it into this years budget
