She tried a test in the control panel and the
speaker box is turned on and up and the volume
control for the computer is up and the test says
it should be working.  No sound is coming out. I
had her open a YouTube video and the volume was
turned up on that and still no sound.  She has
also tried restarting her computer. Also, when she
turns on the computer there is no start up sound,
she has never heard it before either.
