The problems with the scanner were actually 
resolved later in another ticket - 

SR# 51686

And this ticket was never closed. Done.

When turning on scanner it gets an error within 3
seconds.  When trying to scan it makes weird
noises and says "A Problem prevented the document
from being scanned.  

Troubleshoot on the scanner doesnt do anything.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers.

Changed the usb port.

Tried different trays.

Sometimes when scanning it would freeze and I
would have to restart the scanner and force quit
the scanning process.

The scanner is showing an error message that their
is no response from the scanner, it is not
connected. They restarted the computer and the
scanner and neither worked. 

She said it is new and Richard had been working
with them to get it sent up.
