Swapped out the old AC adapter with the new one. Will hold onto 
the old one for a week just in case something is wrong with the new 
one. Told him about the battery thing and explained the process for 
ordering a new one.

Gave him a call and information regarding how to purchase a new 
battery. Said he's going to drop by in about 45 minutes to pick it 
up.

Tricia will need to make a new label for the new
AC adapter.  We will need David's old AC adapter
and power cord so we can dispose of it.  His
department will need to purchase a new battery and
Tricia can help with that as laptop batteries are
under warranty for only one year and that time has
expired.

He came in this morning so Lori and I ended up just getting the 
serial numbers off of the battery and AC charger. Unfortunately, 
Dell ended up denying the battery still because they only 
warranty it for one year, even if the rest of the computer is still 
under warranty.

Will need to give him a call later to let him know of this 
development.

Talked to him on the phone. He will be bringing his laptop and 
power adapter by tomorrow at 8:20 AM or so. I told him that we 
will need to hold on to his laptop for a while but upon further 
discussion with Lori, I found that we would just need to get the 
serial numbers.

I will present him with two options tomorrow: have him give us 
the equipment until we get the parts in or have him hold onto it 
until we get the parts in and have him come in again so that we 
can install whatever is necessary.

Hi Craig,
I saw Laven on Friday.  After solving my other computer issue, he 
looked at my laptop battery problem and said he would tell you 
to go ahead with ordering a new battery.  I also showed him a 
problem with frayed wiring on my power adapter, which he said 
also could be replaced under the warranty. 

I just wanted to check in to confirm that these had been ordered.

original service request.

I have to have the serial number off both the
battery and charger.  Dell is requesting this
information before approving the items for warranty

message the battery gave.  Waiting to see if Dell
will approve the parts

Battery status says "replace battery," and will 
not hold a charge.  Also need to replace charger, 
as it is broken as well.  The wires are frayed and 
it is held together by tape.  He still has his 
laptop, but I verified the battery is shot, and 
read the on-screen message.

the battery health. Please check the Battery
Health Meter and let me know what it says.

We have received your service request about the issues you are 
having with your laptop battery. Fortunately the laptop appears 
to be under warranty, however before we can order a 
replacement, we need to have someone take a look at the laptop 
and try to see what exactly went wrong.

Message comes up about his battery needs to be
replaced.  He says it barely holds any power.  It
charges but when he gets to a full battery it
drains when not plugged in.

Email will be best contact for him.
