Just received the laptop back from Dell.  Dell 
replaced the bottom chassis, keyboard, 
motherboard, optical drive, palm rest, and 
"other."

Contacted David to let him know the laptop is 
ready to be picked up.  It also is running Win8, 
not Win7

Received laptop but was disappointed to see it was 
not fixed.  Spent two hours on the phone with Dell 
this morning and they did see that we submitted a 
PO to have this fixed, so they are sending us 
another box to have the laptop shipped back to 
their depot.

Submitted all the information to Joanie yesterday.
 She created the PO and sent it in to Dell.  I
have the confirmation email for the submission
from Dell.  Will check on the status of the repair
with Dell daily.

your laptop.  Unfortunately, the repair needed is
not covered under the warranty.  Below is the
quote from Dell to repair this laptop.  I will
need a department index code to create a purchase
request for the repair.  Please let me know if I

at your earliest convenience.

Received a quote from Dell to repair the
motherboard, daughter board, optical drive,
palmrest, and keyboard.  They found that it was a
no post issue and was a liquid spill that caused
the damage, which warranty does not cover.  Repair
for all parts including labor and shipping total $498.

Emailed the quote to David and asked for an index
code to bill as he will need to approve the repair
before anything can be done.

Received email today from Dell stating that
warranty does not cover replacement of hardware
for this machine.  I will need to get a quote from
Dell and see if David will be able to cover the
cost of repair with his department funds.

Hello,

I apologize for not being able to get to your
laptop sooner.  I was out sick last week and began
troubleshooting it yesterday.  I will be sending
the laptop in to Dell for a motherboard
replacement and they would like the original AC
adapter that came with the laptop since it is a no
power issue.  Would you either be able to drop
that off to us or let me know when you are
available and I can pick that up from you?

David was away on business and the hotel had a
power outage.  When power was restored, it surged
his computer.  Checked out LCD screen to make sure
it wasnt damaged and it was working.  Dell is
going to replace the motherboard but also needs
the AC adapter for the laptop to make sure
everything is working well.
