Craig re-imaged the computer and I've installed iLife and InDesign,
but we need Tricia to install the remainder of Adobe CS5 so the
computer will be repaired and ready for return. It is still sitting at
my desk.

The fix worked temporarily, but after updating with her AppleID and
restarting the computer the AppleID reverted back to the UCSadmin
ID¿ The computer will need to be reimaged with a non-Mavericks
image and the Adobe software (including InDesign) will need to be
reinstalled.

Ms. Garrison,

I have had a chance to sit down and look at your computer and have
run a few diagnostics and maintenance items that I used while
working for Apple. I am able to log in with my own personal account
as well as the "ucsadmin" account and the computer will behave
with no signs of sluggishness or any of the spinning wheels (blue
on blue or multicolored).

The next step I would like to take is to sit down with you while we
are logged in to your account and ensure that the issues no longer
persist. If so, I have some additional maintenance that I can
perform, but I will need you to be at hand to log back in after any
restarts or log outs necessary for the changes to occur.

If you could reply by e-mail, or give us a call if it is more
convenient, and set up a couple of hours during which we could
work together, I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards,
Frederick Tognoli, Jr.

Completed all clean-up tasks. Moved the ~150GB of recovered
photos and data from the root level of the hard drive to the Shared
folder at the User level.

Logged in to the ucsadmin account and ran 5 pages in Safari with
youtube videos playing and 4 instances of terminal running "yes >
/dev/null" in order to max out all cores of the processor with no
blue spinning wheel or computer slow downs noted. Recreated the
same conditions and usability scenario while logged in with my ID.

I will contact the user to schedule a time that we can get together
with her logged in to her account to attempt to recreate the issues
she was seeing. I believe if any issue persists it will require User
Account level of cleaning and maintenance.

The computer was dropped off some time before I came in at 8:00

drive health, updates, PRAM, and SMC to start.

I talked to Lori and suggested that, with my experience at the Apple
Store dealing with issues very much like this, the computer should
come through me when she drops it off for deeper diagnosis and
troubleshooting.

****This is an email****
Hi Lori,
As I said in my last phone call, the issue is
larger than "managing my apps". (Although I
imaging that updating iphoto and itunes may help
the computer function better). The computer
regularly shows the blue beach ball (starts with
the rainbow beach ball for a period of time, then
turns blue), which I believe indicates a greater
system error. In the short period of time I've had
it, it has completely frozen several times (5 or
6), where I've had to manually restart it, and
lost all data.

The greatest problem I'm having in bringing it in
is that you are requiring me to back it up myself.
I have started to back it up several times on my
server space, but it is slow and has errors, then
I have to re-start the process. Right now, it is
saying that it will take 20 hours, so I have to
leave it overnight. I work from home every night,
so this means I cannot work tonight. I hope that
it does not have errors overnight, forcing me to
start over again tomorrow.

Please do not close the ticket, as I will bring it
in as soon a I can.
Thank you,
Jodie

Hi Jodie,

I just wanted to touch base with you regarding
your laptop. Do you know when you might be able
to bring it in for a reimage so you can better
manage your apps? After the reimage, we would
have you login to the AppStore with your personal
account to download and manage iLife apps.

If at this point, you are unsure or are unable to
leave your computer for a period due to time being
a factor, I can close out your ticket and you can
reopen it whenever you are ready to have this work
completed and we will be more than happy to take
care of that for you at a time that is convenient
for you.

Thank you,
Lori

Hi Lori,
I called yesterday, and left a message. Yes, I do
still need to have this taken care of.
Additionally, my computer is still having some of
the same problems that it was having before it was
sent into apple care. I see the "blue beach ball"
daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I'm not
speaking of the spinning rainbow beach ball, but
the all blue that indicates a larger system issue.
Also, in the past two weeks, it has completely
frozen up four times- to where I have to manually
shut it down without saving anything. It is
actually completely freezing more than it was
before it was fixed. The fan is improved.

The first couple weeks of the term are extremely
busy for me, and I have not had a chance to spend
the many hours that it will take to back up
everything on the computer, which you have told me
I need to do on my own before I bring it in. It
may take several more days before I am able to get
to this.

So, yes, I do still need to have that service
performed, thank you. I cannot update any apple
programs on my own. They are still in the out-
dated state they were in when installed.
Thanks,
Jodie

Hi Jodie,

We still have your service request open regarding
a laptop reimage in order to allow you to update
applications through your personal Apple AppStore
ID. Are you still needing that service to be
performed? If so, when would be the best time to
pick up your laptop? If you aren't needing that
service performed, please let me know and we can
update and close out your ticket.

Thank you,
Lori

She came in last week and I spoke with her about
having to reimage her computer again to get the
ucsappstore account removed. I told her that we
cant transfer applications to a new account, that
Apple doesnt work that way. She was supposed to
bring her laptop by last week, but hasnt. Please
contact her Wed of this week if we dont hear back
from her.

She is coming tomorrow to pick it up. Inventory doesn't show
any extra software, but she claims there was more. I found CS5
WebDesignPremium was licensed to her, so that needs to be
installed.

Her HDD was crashing, and about to die. Whatever I was able to
save without total HDD failure is on the root directory in a folder
called "CLICKYLAPTOP"
