Reseting SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964) got it to 
display log in screen. Restarted the computer a few times to make 
sure it would display the correct screen reliably. Seems to be fine 
now.

She was logged into her computer and stepped away
for awhile, came back and it is now stuck on a
black screen where all she can see is her cursor.
The cursor is responsive, but she tried rebooting
her computer and the same black screen came up
with only the cursor visible.

Her office will be open for someone to check it
out for the rest of the day, but if you actually
need her for something she'll be in a meeting
until about 3:15
