Hi Gavin,

Two things that I tried out involved swapping a
working toner from a working printer into Beowulf
(it worked in Beowulf immediately), and then I
swapped the non-working toner into a working
printer (the working printer read toner
exhausted). This leads me to guess that it's not
a chip issue, but an issue with the toner itself.

However, Megan will definitely be the best
resource to make sure before you purchase the
toner :).

Thanks,

Lexie

Hi Lexie,

A quick follow-up: remember last week, when you
grabbed a toner from one of your UCS printers for
Beowulf? The toner you grabbed probably isn't
exhausted, and the one that was in there was new
(I think Megan said that new toner might have had
a chip/communication problem).

I'm wondering if the problem isn't the toner but
something inside the printer that reads whether
the toner is new or old. Perhaps the sensor isn't
resetting or something?

Any ideas about this? I can order a new toner,
but I suspect the problem will still be there.
It'd be nice to eliminate this possibility before
spending the money.

Thank you for all of your help!

Megan,

Both issues popped up again in Grendel and the
phaser 3600 printers. For Grendel, Tray 2 is a
little difficult to pull out, and I think it has a
feeding issue. It keeps saying "jam, remove
paper" , but if you mess around with the tray, it
goes away. New feed rollers?

Hello Gavin,

I checked on your printers. For Grendel, I pulled
out the tray, opened the back flap, and it went
back to normal. It may need new feed rollers if
you're continuing to get the jam error.

For the other printer, I took your toner and
tested it in another printer. It also returned a
toner exhausted error. At this point, you might
need to order completely new toner.

I've referred your tasks to Megan, our printer
technician. She might have clarification or
different solutions. Unfortunately, she won't be
back in the office till Wednesday.

Thank you for your patience,

Lexie

Tray 2 was a little hard to remove, but did open.
It was empty. Put paper in tray and it printed
fine. Note: When the paper rises in tray 2, it
makes a popping sound, but doesn't seem hinder
anything.

Let Gavin know about the tray.

Gavin has tried removing the jam in the printer,
however, he is unable to remove the paper tray. He
mentions that it is locked in the machine not
allowing him to remove the paper jam.
