Hi Yanwei,

We firewall these types of programs because it 
will open up the possibility of threats that could 
infiltrate our systems.  In order to maintain the 
integrity of our network, we cannot open firewall 
rules to allow for these types of programs.

I am trying to use socket to communicate from my
laptop to a desktop in my office. I can ping the
desktop, but the socket program cannot connect to
the desktop. Is this because of the firewall that
blocks the connect? Since I want to make my
desktop as a server and students can connect it
using their socket programs, could you help me for
that? I appreciate your helps.

The desktop's number is 20090623[Edit Inv], the laptop is
20101324[Edit Inv].
