so lexi, The transfer of license process says that
we should be able to use the old activation key
again(they reset it) so when Breeann is back and
available you should be able to successfully

Mathematica is saying that the license is in use
on another computer.  It must be the hardware
change.  Referred to Tricia for licensing
troubleshooting.

Hi Tricia,

UCS recently sent in my Mac Laptop to applecare
for some broken speakers.  It came back with an
new (updated) operating system.  However, all of
the software that has been purchased for me now
needs to me reinstalled.  Sharon Price told me
that you are the person to contact about that. 
What do I need to do?  

The software that I had was: Adobe Professional,
Mathematica, Geometers Sketchpad and Maple.

check to make sure laptop does or doesnt need to be 
reimaged.  Also make sure everything is in working 
order and deliver to students.

Just received an email from the Mac store letting me 
know the laptop is ready for pickup.  Apple replaced 
the logic board on the laptop.  If they performed a 
wipe, the laptop will need a reimage.

Hi Breeann,

I had Craig, one of our student technicians, call 
and he was able to leave you a voicemail, however 
I wanted to email you as well regarding your 
laptop.  It appears that the computer is having a 
hardware issue.  I will need to take your laptop 
in to the Mac store to have the issue resolved.  
The warranty on the laptop runs out next week, so 
I want to get the laptop in tomorrow.  Because it 
is a hardware issue, Apple will often wipe a 
computer and reinstall the operating system.  I 
want to make sure you have all your data backed up 
first, however.  Please let me know if you need to 
transfer any data to a network drive.  I plan to 
leave tomorrow around 3pm to take the laptop in 
for repair..

Craig left Breeann a voicemail letting her know 
that we would need to take the laptop in to the 
Mac Store since it is a hardware related issue.  
He also inquired if she has any locally saved data 
that needs to be transferred to her network drive 
in case they need to wipe the computer.  I will be 
taking the computer in tomorrow since the warranty 
is out next week.

Also tried repairing disk permissions and running AHT. AHT 
needs to be run from install disk 2, which I got from Dale. When 
trying to boot from that DVD the computer crashes. 

At this point we may need to try reimaging the computer, and if 
that doesn't work sending it in to Apple. It is under warranty for 
another week and a half.

No audio devices found in systems settings. So far I have reset the 
PRAM, SMC, deleted the com.apple.audio files so they can be 
recreated at startup, and tried using headphones to test audio. So 
far nothing has worked.

She will be bringing her laptop by around 3 and
needs to pick up a loaner. She said that there is
no sound coming from her speakers and Fredrick had
come and helped her out and suggested that it may
be a hardware issue.
